New Year's Resolutions in March?

Ok, so this isn’t the time of year we typically make New Year’s Resolutions, because, well, it’s NOT New Year’s. But realistically, how many of those New Year’s Resolutions made in January are down the drain by February? We’re usually caught up in finishing out the holidays, starting a new year and all the ‘stuff’ that goes along with that, and pretty much just plain a little too overzealous in setting these resolutions to really follow through. Most people don’t last the first week of January and then just throw in the towel and say forget it! So, why not make those resolutions NOW, before the year’s half over, but now that we’re past the craziness of Christmas and New Year’s. So light up some sparklers and start humming Auld Lang Syne if it helps, and let’s get started!
  1. Set some goals!!! Good place to start, huh? Ok, let’s make these goals challenging, yet attainable. If you say, “I’m going to lose 75 lbs. by June!”, well, it probably just isn’t going to happen. Set smaller, more attainable goals. And remember that success isn’t always measured by the scale!
  2. Have a plan! Just making a goal isn’t going to get you there; you have to have a plan to get you going. If you’re new to exercise, I recommend starting out with a workout program such as Slim in 6 or Power 90. If you’re already in reasonable shape, you may want to try something like P90X (my personal favorite!), Insanity (I’m taking on this one starting next month!), or TurboFire. Or come up with a walking or running schedule and add in some resistance training a couple of times a week. Your options are limitless! If you need help coming up with a plan, contact me! I can coach you for FREE and help you get started.
  3. Tell the world! Ok, maybe not the WHOLE world, but at least the part you are involved in. Let your family know, your friends know, your dog, your cat, the checkout guy at the grocery store, well, you get the picture. Letting people know your intentions will help you stick with it! You’re a whole lot more likely to stick with your plan and meet your goals if you’ve announced it to others who are going to be watching to see if you follow through.
  4. Get started! Don’t put it off another day! Today is the day to take control of your health! Contact me TODAY if you need help! Order that fitness program or Shakeology TODAY! Throw out the junk in the house TODAY! Grab your running shoes and head outside TODAY! Whatever it is you’ve decided on, get started! Don’t wait!
Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
